Since we opened server transfers in February this year, we’ve all seen a noticeable shift in what servers the Lineage II population is playing on. Many players transferred from lower population servers to higher population servers in the name of greater competition, which is in essence what Lineage II is about. This has left us with a few servers with low enough populations that the communities on those servers have expressed their concern.
After looking at the servers, we agree that some changes need to be made to help us maintain the very highest quality Lineage II experience for all of our players. As such, we will be combining a few of our North American servers in early July. With the exciting changes coming in the next Chaotic Throne installment (which we plan to launch later this summer), we believe that merging some servers now will create an even more active, competitive Lineage II community.
We aim to make this as smooth and painless a transition as possible for our players and feel this will balance and revitalize the overall server populations.
Please see the forum posting here for all the details.
We have some great news for those of you who have been patiently waiting for Teon and Franz to re-open for server transfers. We will be re-opening both Teon and Franz for transfers on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 12:00 PM Central Time (6:00 PM GMT+1). It’s important to note that the number of available transfer slots will be limited each week, but this system will allow us to keep transfers to these servers open.
The process for transferring servers will be the same as before, but if all the slots have been taken for that particular week, you will not be able to select Teon or Franz, and will need to wait until the following week. The server transfer slots to Teon and Franz will reset every Tuesday after the regularly scheduled weekly maintenance. We cannot provide information regarding the exact number of slots because it may change from one week to the next. In the event that the number of available slots changes, it will be more transfer slots opening, not closing.
As a reminder, please review the Rules and Requirements on the Server Transfer Info Page. If you are in a unique situation where you wish to transfer to Teon or Franz, but cannot because of Hero status for the month, please contact our GM team through the "Ask a Question" link in the Support Center. As a courtesy to our players, we will remove hero status by request through Monday, May 26, 2008.
Lineage II community, we hear you!
Lately, we’ve all witnessed a staggering increase in the number of Lineage II trial accounts that are being abused. As we all know, the purpose of a trial account is to give someone who hasn’t tried Lineage II before a chance to give it a test drive. Unfortunately, our trial codes are being used more and more, by individuals who are not true members of our community, in ways that harm the player experience. We have received an overwhelming number of requests from our player community to put a stop to this trial account abuse; so, we have made a reluctant, but absolutely necessary decision. As of today, April 29, 2008, we will greatly limiting trial account creation. Current trial accounts that have already been activated will be left active.
We will also be making some changes to how trial accounts can be acquired. For the time being, trial codes acquisition will be limited, but you will still be able to acquire trial codes via the Refer a Friend program. We will be monitoring all trial codes very closely. This is something that we believe will actually create a better atmosphere for our players in Lineage II and, especially since our community has requested this move, we are happy to oblige.
For those former and potential players who may in the future wish to use a trial code with the intent to simply try out Lineage II, though limited, trial codes are still accessible! You can get a trial code from an existing player via the Refer a Friend program. The Lineage II team will be monitoring this situation closely and will update our community on further developments and policy changes.
Thanks to our community members who report these abuses and do all they can to keep the game challenging, fair, and fun.
